Free lesson - The Theory of Nothing
Free lesson · The Theory of Nothing
What comes before style? The step that's left when you take everything away.
The same basic Bachata movement can look urban, elegant, sensual — or like you. It all starts from point zero.
The Theory of Nothing — Kenza's free lesson
Bachata from point zero, and how every choice you add on top of it becomes your style.
Free, and it plays on this page — no waiting for an email.
Before style
Style doesn't start with more.
When we want a Bachata of our own, most of us add: a new footwork, a shoulder accent, something borrowed from a dancer we admire. But if you don't know the neutral step underneath, you don't know what you're changing — and then you're not building a style, you're wearing someone else's.
The Theory of Nothing
First, take it all away.
Watch the step lose its styling, one layer at a time. What's left is where your style begins.
A styled step: feet, shoulders, hips, direction, intention, texture. What remains? Bachata. The neutral base, with nothing on it. Now you choose what to add back. Same step, different choices.
Kenza calls the elements you add back adornos: feet, shoulders, hips, upper-body direction, dynamics, intention, texture. The way you combine them is what turns the same step into your Bachata — urban, contemporary, sensual or Dominican, without losing the Bachata underneath.
The path
From the root to your identity
- ROOTThe neutral Bachata step, with nothing on it.
- UNDERSTANDINGKnowing what every part of that step is doing.
- CHOICEDeciding what to add — on purpose, not by copying.
- MOVEMENTPutting those choices into your body.
- IDENTITYA way of dancing people recognise as yours.

What's inside
The modules where you build
Maybe you recognise yourself here
- You feel the music, but you can't turn what you hear into movement.
- You study a lot, but when you improvise you always do the same things.
- You're technically good, but you dance like many others, without a clear identity.
- You know a lot, but you can't connect it and turn it into freedom.
- You feel there's much more in you than what shows when you dance.
It isn't that you don't train enough. What's missing is a method that connects the music, your body and your choices. Kenza built hers over twenty years of dance and two years of putting it in order, and Kenzaverse is the one place where she teaches it from start to finish.

BachataOpen now
Where it all starts: the instruments, the rhythm sections, musicality and interpretation. Then the body, one Lego at a time: hips, shoulders, torso, feet. The Theory of Nothing is one of these lessons.
-
UrbanOpen now
A second language for your body: groove, bounce, swing and whip arms, footwork and a full choreography. Your movement vocabulary gets bigger.
-
MJ StyleOpen now
Principles and moves from one of the biggest influences on Kenza: the back sweep, the Billie Jean shuffle, the shoulder pop.
-
Kenza StyleOpen now
Kenza's choreographies, where Bachata, Urban and MJ Style meet in one way of dancing: Bilirrubina, Barcelona, Lokita Por Mí, Chivi and more.
-
Technique LabOpen now
The tools of Kenza's academic training: posture and alignment, plié, turns and spotting, isolations, arm waves. This is where the quality of your movement changes.
-
Musicality LabOpen now
Listening and interpretation worked on a real song, from the first note to the movement. It starts with Imitadora.
-
Urban BachataOpen now
The same sequence danced in Bachata and then in Urban Bachata: you see exactly what changes, and you learn to move from one to the other on purpose.

The module where you look at yourself as a dancer: your strengths, what's missing, and the tools to build your own identity. Whatever your level, whatever you dance for.
